it's that time again...
back to school time is upon us! I've been cleaning, rearranging, and organizing things in my classroom to get ready for the school year to begin. Inservice starts next week and then it will be full speed ahead!
Looking forward to the return of some of my students from last year as well as meeting the new kids on my caseload this year. The first week is always hectic trying to schedule 45 students at 3 different campuses for therapy. Of course, once you think the schedule is complete it will change again and again!
My hope is to post therapy tips, websites, apps, etc. this year that are my favorites. So, stay tuned!

I gave in....
and started another blog. I already have a mommy blog that I keep up for our family but I have had several people suggest starting a SLP blog to document the happenings in public school speech therapy. So...here it goes! Anyone who works in special education will attest to the fact that we are in the trenches...hence the name.
I have been an SLP for 5 years and it's been a wild ride. My background is in the medical aspect of our field but after having my first child I had the opportunity to go to work in the public school setting. I couldn't turn down the school hours and calendar so I ended up the one place I swore I'd never go and I've never looked back.
I have 45 students on my caseload with varying degrees of ability and quite a few complex situations so it keeps life interesting. I prefer working with the more severe students so I spend a lot of my day in the self-contained classrooms. I also do PRN work at an outpatient clinic and in a small town PRN work is always available so I stay busy.
So, kickback, relax, and enjoy my tales from the trenches!
